ADHD-friendly therapy that works. We've tried a few places, but Neurodiverse Playhouse Brisbane stands out. Our son has ADHD and struggles with focus and sensory regulation. Their therapists built a movement-based plan that genuinely helps.

Exercise physiology for neurodiverse children in Brisbane, Melbourne and Gold Coast

Our accredited exercise physiologists use structured, evidence-based physical activity to support movement, strength, coordination and wellbeing, designed specifically for neurodiverse young people and built around play, not performance.

We work alongside occupational therapists and paediatric podiatrists for a truly multidisciplinary approach. Sessions are child-led, interest-driven, and celebrate every win, big or small.

What does our exercise physiology support?

Gross motor development

Running, jumping, throwing and climbing built around what your child loves.

Coordination & balance

Body awareness and spatial processing through playful movement.

Strength & endurance

Building the physical foundations for everyday activity.

Regulation through movement

Using exercise as a tool to support emotional regulation.

Cardiovascular fitness

Supporting energy, sleep and focus across the whole day.

Hypermobility & sensory motor

Targeted programs for hypermobile joints and sensory motor integration.

Movement that feels like play

Exercise physiology at Neurodiverse Playhouse isn't about drills, performance or pushing limits. It's about helping your child discover what their body can do, joyfully and at their own pace. Progress is reviewed every 6 weeks against your child's individual goals.

What is exercise physiology for neurodiverse children?+

It's an evidence-based program using structured physical activity to support movement, coordination, strength and emotional regulation, tailored specifically for children with autism, ADHD and other developmental differences.

How is exercise physiology different from regular sport or PE?+

Exercise physiology is delivered by an accredited professional and is individually tailored to your child's developmental needs, goals and sensory profile. It's therapeutic, not competitive.

Does my child need a diagnosis to access exercise physiology?+

No. We welcome all children and young people aged 2-25. No formal diagnosis is required to enrol.

What is hydrotherapy and is it available?+

Hydrotherapy is exercise-based therapy conducted in a warm water pool. It's available at our Gold Coast clinic in Burleigh Heads and is particularly beneficial for children with ADHD, autism and global developmental delay.

What improvements can I expect?+

Most families notice improvements in gross motor skills, coordination, balance, emotional regulation and energy levels within 3-6 months of regular sessions. Progress is reviewed every 6 weeks against your child's individual goals.

Is NDIS funding available?+

Yes. Neurodiverse Playhouse accepts NDIS funding for exercise physiology sessions. Sessions are $166.99.

Is exercise physiology covered by Medicare?+

Exercise physiology may be covered under a Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. With a GP referral you may be eligible for up to 5 allied health sessions per calendar year. An out of pocket fee applies.

Does private health insurance cover exercise physiology?+

Many private health funds cover exercise physiology under extras cover. Check directly with your insurer; we're happy to provide receipts and invoices for your claim.

Neurodiverse Playhouse

Let's redefine what therapy can be.

Your child doesn't need to change who they are to feel safe, included or valued. They just need the right support, offered in a way that embraces their uniqueness.
